Hey everyone. I have recently gotten a new blog, so this one is becoming inactive. If you would like to stay connected to me, please check out my new blog at: www.rebeccaellison.com/blog
NEW BLOG!!!
On Sunday I ventured over to the Woodmark Hotel in Kirkland to photograph Molly and Matt’s wedding. Molly and Matt live in Jacksonville, Florida where Molly just graduated from college and Matt is stationed in the Navy, so Molly’s parents were who hired me. I found myself really liking and respecting Molly’s parents when we met and was super happy to have them choose me to photograph the wedding of their youngest daughter. When I finally met Molly on one of her excursions up here for wedding planning, I was just as impressed with her as I was with her parents, which made me that much more excited to shoot her wedding!
So after many months of planning, the day arrived and it couldn’t have been prettier. The Woodmark has this beautiful tent outside looking out on the water of Lake Washington that they use when the weather permits, and even though the forcast had been questionable, and there were a couple rain drops early in the morning, the day cleared to beautiful blue skies and upwards of 70 degrees by the time we started taking pictures, and they had their ceremony against the setting sun. Since Matt and most of his buddies are in the military, the groomsmen wore their dress whites (and one dress blues in the the Marines), and they finished off the ceremony with a sword ceremony of their own. It was quite beautiful.

Congrats you two!

Cassandra and TJ got married on Saturday at the South County Senior Center in Edmonds, WA. The senior center looks out at the Puget Sound right next to the Kingston Ferry. It was a beautiful view and the weather decided to clear up just in time for them to change plans and have the wedding outside by the water. After hearing that the weather was going to be iffy all week for the weekend, it was such a nice surprise to enjoy the day outside.
TJ was such a sweetheart. When I asked how long he and Cassandra had been together, he didn’t miss a beat and said “seven years, eight months, 30 days and a couple hours!” Now that is a guy who values every minute of his love with Cassandra!
Congats you two!!!
I photographed a pregnant Piper Moore and her hubby Seth back in May. I told them that I would keep our photos off any public site until after they gave birth to their daughter Aine Elaine Moore, because at the time I was the only person other than them who knew Aine’s name. It was really sweet, because they wanted to use some blocks to spell out her name and have them in the photos. That is why these shots have stayed off of my blog!
We went to Greenlake and walked around while we shot. They wanted to make sure that Seth was in most of the shots, so we played with traditional maternity shots and more portrait style.
I found out recently that Piper gave birth to a healthy baby girl, so congrats to the new family!
Baby Ethan
This kid has a smile to melt hearts. Ashleigh is moving back to Canada this week, and she wanted some photos of her son before she went. She realized that Ethan was turning 7 months and she still didn’t have any photos done of him. So, we went out this evening right before his bedtime, and he was still super happy and not cranky… we shot till the crakiness arrived, then called it a day. This kid is cute!
Ashleigh will have reason to dread this look when he gets older. All ready looking mischievous before he can even crawl.
He didn’t want me taking pictures of his toes 🙂
But I got some anyway!
Annie and Casey: Married!!
On Saturday I had the pleasure to photograph Casey and Annie’s nuptials. They got married at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Everett. Annie and Casey are the cutest couple and I had a blast being there to document their day. After their ceremony, they hopped into a 1950’s Ford Convertable and were off to their reception at the Monte Cristo Hotel… but not till after I was able to shoot them in the old Ford 😛
Here is a sneak-peak of the photos from the day
Annie intertwined her Grandmothers rosary into her bouquet. It was a nice personal touch.
I had a blast with the boys (and girl) with some cigars and a fisheye lens!
I love the little bit of sass!
This shot was taken by Amber Brickman. She was my second shooter on Saturday and is one of my favorite people to work with. She is always able to get those in the moment shots because the bride and groom are paying attention to what I am doing and completely forget that she is there in the background getting amazing shots like this one!
I had to take their rings out and play with them in the old Ford. I love detail shots and what place to shoot details than something that has character everywhere?
This is seriously the first time I’ve ever seen photos that I’ve taken put onto a wedding cake! I was flattered!
Bye Bye Bouquet…
Good Night!
Mothers Day
I had the luckiness to see my little niece and my brother and sister in law on Mothers Day this year. Audrey (my niece) is my little muse. I can’t seem to not take great pics of her ever, so here are some! My sis-in-law Erica is preggers with babie Annie right now and is less than a month from birth now. So we wanted to get some shots of Audrey kissing her sissy. They are the cutest family and I count my blessings that I get to be related to them!
this profile of Audrey is one my most favorite
then there is one of my dad… just cuz he’s so handsome (and one of the rare times I get him without him making some crazy face)
I had the privilege the other week to work with Barbie Hull of Barbie Hull Photography on May 24. She is an amazing photographer here in town and I am very happy to have had the chance to assist for her and do a little 2nd shooting too. The wedding was at St Johns Cathedral in Capital Hill just a short jaunt from downtown. This cathedral was probably one of the most beautiful churches I have had the chance to work in yet. Michele and Paul got ready at the Hotel Alexis, married at St Johns Cathedral and had their reception at Hotel 1000 in downtown Seattle. When I am working with another photographer, I tend to try and capture more of the details since they are there to capture all of the regular wedding happenings. Its a nice change to be able to shoot and work more on the sidelines sometimes.

Annie and Casey: Engaged!
Its been a while since I have had time to blog! Been a bit busy and I’ve been wanting to post something new for a while…. So here we are!
I’m shooting Annie and Casey’s wedding in July of this year and we knew that we were running out of time to shoot their engagement pics. We all were hoping for a sunny day so that we could get some fun sunset pictures, but alas, since we live in the Seattle area, it didn’t look likely to happen. After rescheduling twice we decided to just go out and have fun in the weather that we had… which if anyone knows Seattle…. it was rainy 🙂 We went to the Olympic Sculpture Park in by the Seattle waterfront and played with what we had.It ended up being really fun. Here are some of my faves
There were a bunch of red chairs on a patio that I wanted to incorporate in some of the pictures too.
